This week:

We saw many geese migrating south in a big V.
On Monday in gym the Discoverers climbed on the rock wall.
On Tuesday in gym the Explorers played with the parachute. It was fun.
This week Discoverers learned about time like hours, minutes, and seconds and did pre-test on time.
We played with cards and did many centers.
The Explorers tasted pumpkin bread, pumpkin seeds, and pumpkin butter.
This week Discoverers did guidance which was a new subject on the schedule and had toys like Snail and Puppy.

What did we do this week?

We looked at pumpkins and played with pumpkins. 

This week we compared and described pumpkins.

We looked at the pumpkins color, texture, and size. 

We cut the pumpkin and looked at the inside.

We sorted the seeds, strings, pulp, and the shell. 

We wrote riddles about pumpkins.

We looked at bumpy gourds. 

Fernanda brought a large pumpkin to school on Friday. We will make it into a jack-o-lantern! 

The Discoverers will make a jack-o-lantern too!

What did you do this week?

We went outside to look for the signs of fall.

This week we learned lots of English about place value and number lines. We learned about ones, tens, and hundreds.  The Explorers learned to count by tens. The Discoverers started learning about rounding.

A new art teacher taught us how to draw our hands and showed  us how to glue them on a big paper.

This week we did many things as a school. It was a good week!
Monday was Hat Day and we made hats.
Tuesday we had Pajama Day.
Wednesday was Sports Day.
Thursday was Northside Day.
Today is Red Day because tomorrow is the Walk for Education.

The Discoverers learned about how to write the beginning and middle of narratives.

This week was exciting!

What did you do this week?


We ate chicken nuggets, nachos, and barbecue sandwiches. Some people also ate home lunches like fried rice with special nuggets.

We studied English. We learned lots of words.
We learned about the people in a school, like the art teacher, music teacher, PE teacher, principal, custodian, teacher, office staff, nurse, and cafeteria worker.

We also started learning about places in the school like the nurse's office, cafeteria, playground, music room, art room and more. We talked about our schools in different countries.




















In the explorers' classroom, we wrote "What I Like" books.

In the discoverers' classroom, we made puzzle tests to challenge our friends.  We also learned about consonant clusters.

This week in Newcomer ESL:

How was your week?


Some students were sleepy this week because they didn't sleep well.

Some students said their week was busy. We did many things in school!

The Discoverers' watched videos their friends made telling about themselves. It was fun watching each other's videos!

Many students said their week was good and that they felt happy.


Many of our students had to get shots this week! Ouch! 

We learned to use Reflex math. We love it! 

We also learned to check out books from the library all by ourselves. Ms. Cole, the librarian, read books to us.
